Prelude (April - July 2017)

Training

Already done 1034 miles training, so have reached my target. Only thing that is bothering me is my right fingers being numb. Nothing hurts as yet but hand is just annoying!!  Will have to try padding it with sponge or similar.

Think it will be a challenge for me more for the weather conditions than anything but maybe I am more resilient than I think.

Looking forward to it in a strange kind of way although I may regret saying that later!!

Only time will tell.

Start of the Journey

Travelled right the way through to Perth - just above Edinburgh.

Have to say Sat Nav decided to tell us to do a U-turn on the Forth Bridge, strange how we didn't bother!!

Had a good meal at Harvester and went swiftly to sleep apparently while John was STILL talking to me!! And he had done all the driving?

Up early for breakfast at MacDonald’s- porridge as didn't want to risk the fat!

Travelled all the way to John O'Groats, although stopped at Inverness Tesco's for dinner and then, later at coffee shop for cake.

Arrived at John O'Groats. Unfortunately for us they were holding the Mey Highland games (Link) with Prince Charles in attendance when we got there so we weren't sure whether we would get a room.

Fortunately,John managed to get one in the Sea View hotel and had lovely fish pie for tea.

Tried bikes out and tested panniers for morning as off early on ferry. Had photo taken at sign and checked that we were ready for the morning.
